On Tuesday, 6/22/21, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) officially rescinded the existing COVID-19 Emergency Workplace Rules. The rules were replaced with a new standard for health care employers that is in alignment with the federal OSHA Emergency standard for health care settings.
Because the COVID-19 rules were rescinded, decisions regarding the following issues are now left up to each individual non-health care employer:
- Daily health screening
- Face covering requirements
- Social distancing requirements
- Record keeping requirements
- Requirements for a COVID-19 response and preparedness plan
Employers are urged to review the latest CDC guidelines for best practices to mitigate COVID-19 hazards, all of which can be found on the CDC website:
- Manufacturing Workers and Employers
- Agriculture Workers and Employers
- Meat and Poultry Processing Workers and Employers
- Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People
